[ an everyday, 2016 ]

'What speaks to us, seemingly, is always the big event, the untoward, the extra-ordinary (…) How should we take account of, question, describe what happens every day and recurs everyday: the banal, the quotidian, the obvious, the common, the ordinary, the infra-ordinary, the background noise, the habitual?' This concern by Georges Perec motivated an open-call through which interested participants would share camera phone pictures of their everyday gaze, looking forward to make these memories unfold unpredictable readings. Within more than 650 collected pictures, a small selection triggered a recurring interest, an emotional resonance that guided an act of appropriation and uncovering in an effort to reimagine memories that belonged to someone else, treating the image space as a dreamscape.
